Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has unveiled the introduction of green number plates for electric vehicles and motorcycles in the country.

This initiative aims to boost the identification of environmentally friendly vehicles on the roads, signalling a major shift towards sustainable transportation.

During the launch of the e-mobility policy at KICC on Wednesday, Murkomen declared, “All vehicles that are EVs will be given green number plates.

Those that have been having the green one need to apply for another one.” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to promoting electric vehicle adoption and incentivizing eco-conscious choices among motorists.

Furthermore, the Ministry plans to collaborate with governors to allocate priority parking spaces for electric vehicles, making charging more accessible and cost-effective.

Murkomen also revealed plans to install charging systems at the Ministry headquarters, setting the stage for broader adoption of electric vehicles across government entities.
