Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has extended a heartfelt apology to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, for the disrespectful behavior exhibited towards her during the intense political activities of the 2022 general election.
During an exclusive interview today, Monday, March 25, 2024 with Kameme FM at his Karen residence, Gachagua expressed deep remorse, stating, “In 2022, politics had deteriorated to a deplorable state. There was a regrettable lack of respect, with insults being hurled at Mama Ngina, and I’m very sorry for that. We humbly request her forgiveness.”
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of unity and respect within the Mt Kenya community, highlighting the need to learn from past divisions and promote a culture of unity and respect. He also underscored the significance of respecting former President Uhuru Kenyatta within the Kikuyu community, stating, “He is our son and we love him.”
Gachagua condemned the divisive tactics used during the 2022 elections and pledged to work towards fostering unity and healing past political rivalries. He called on the Mt Kenya community to unite and speak with one voice, urging elders to play a crucial role in uniting the community.
