A woman in Kitengela town, Kajiado County, has been arrested by the police after her husband’s decomposing body was found inside their house.
According to Citizen’s report, the 58-year-old woman had been living with her husband’s body at home for several days, claiming that she was waiting for him to resurrect so that their marriage could continue.
Police raided the house after neighbors informed them about a strange smell emanating from the woman’s compound.
The officers forcibly entered the woman’s house after being denied entry, discovering the body lying beside her bed in the living room.
“The police entered the compound and found the woman alone. She appeared to be sick, exhausted, and frail. She was shaking uncontrollably,” said a source quoted by Citizen.
According to neighbors, the woman claimed to have placed the body awaiting his resurrection.
Neighbors stated that the woman and her husband were members of a religious sect that prohibits the consumption of food except bananas and watermelons.
