Nyeri Town MP Dancun Maina has been accused of posting fake school fee a receipt for social media clout, in an attempt to portray himself to Nyeri Town constituents as a caring leader.

On Wednesday, the UDA MP claimed to have paid school fees to Nyeri High School for a needy student only for him to be accused of faking the school’s receipt and being economical with the truth.

”He followed us on Monday this week while we had taken the boy to Nyeri high school,he requested for a photo little we didn’t know it was to be posted on social media pages,” Esthel Koi says.

The MP had earlier posted picture of Nyeri High School school fees receipt and the needy student accompanied by his parents/guardians.

”Our efforts towards 100% transition continue. Yet another boy joined Nyeri High school. Thank you for reaching out with information,” MP Maina’s post read in part.

However, Koi, who says she is close to the needy boy’s family says, she fails to understand where MP Maina got a Nyeri High School fees receipt claiming to have paid over Ksh 29,000 for school fees for them, yet, the Nyeri Town constituency office was unreachable for two weeks, only for a well wisher from a private company to write them a cheque for the fees.

”Stop marketing yourself and yet you contributed 0 efforts.I know this family and where the parents got the money. this child stayed at home for 2 weeks while the parents were struggling to get the money. The parents contacted you but you didn’t support the child,” she tells the Nyeri Town MP.

The first-term lawmaker has been criticized by his constituents of failing to maintain the flow of student bursaries across the constituency, something they say is hampering the education progress of Nyeri Town.
