Tensions have escalated following allegations made by Brian Chira’s grandmother, accusing Baba Talisha and Brenda Wanjiku of misusing funds designated for her grandson’s burial.

The saga unfolded on social media, with TikTok becoming the platform for airing grievances and seeking clarity on the matter.

In a heartfelt revelation, Chira’s grandmother recounted feeling marginalized and controlled during the funeral arrangements. She claimed that Wanjiku, purportedly Baba Talisha’s spouse, confiscated her phone, rendering her unable to communicate freely.

“Ni kama nilikuwa nimefungwa macho. Hata simu nilinyang’anywa Watu walikuwa wananipigia simu wanitumie kakitu hawanipati wanaona ni kama mathadarau (It felt like I was blindfolded. Even my phone was taken away. People were calling me to send me something, but they couldn’t reach me; it seemed like I was disrespecting them,” she said.

The crux of the accusation revolves around financial mismanagement. Chira’s grandmother alleged that Wanjiku assumed control over the funeral finances, withdrawing funds without her authorization.

Despite having purchased a house worth Sh 3.5 million, she disclosed a remaining balance of Sh 1 million intended for burial expenses.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, she fell ill and was unable to transfer the funds as planned.

Wanjiku purportedly took advantage of this situation, withdrawing the money and subjecting her to verbal abuse.

“Nilikuwa nimebakisha balance ya Sh 1 million na nilikuwa nipeleke Friday but nikagonjeka. Wanjiku ndiye alikuwa akiwithdraw pesa. Aliniusi (I had a balance of Sh 1 million remaining to send on Friday, but I fell ill. Wanjiku was the one withdrawing the money, and she insulted me,” she shared.

Furthermore, the grandmother claimed that Wanjiku threatened to freeze the funds, asserting they were public money.

Additionally, the grandmother revealed that Baba Talisha intervened by covering her rent arrears, further entangling him in the unfolding drama.

“Aliniambia anweza toa. Mumwambie nikipata hakuna pesa kwa bank account, uwaambie watatoa juu ni hao wanajua pin zangu zote za M-Pesa na bank (She told me she can withdraw. Tell them if I don’t get money in the bank account, they will give me because they know all my M-Pesa and bank PINs),” she added.
