Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris found herself in the midst of a heated confrontation with activists who accused her of silence amid the rising cases of femicide across the country.
The incident unfolded as Passaris attempted to address the activists gathered at Jevanjee Gardens, only to be met with heckling and condemnation.
The activists, visibly agitated, questioned Passaris’s whereabouts and criticized her alleged lack of action in addressing the escalating crisis.
Shouts of “Where were you? Go home! Where were you!” echoed through the air as the protesters expressed their frustration with the Women Representative.
The situation escalated to the point where Passaris was forced to abandon a makeshift podium, with her bodyguards swiftly ushering her away to safety.
The activists, who accused Passaris of maintaining her silence on the pressing issue of femicide, blocked her from delivering any remarks.
Amid the chaos, organizers attempted to restore calm, but their efforts were in vain. Passaris, unable to address the crowd, decided to join the activists in their walk instead
Despite the tumultuous encounter, the activists managed to present Passaris with a petition, urging her to forward it to Parliament.
The petition presumably addressed the urgent need for legislative action to combat femicide and protect women across the nation.
