Kiambu MCAs Plot to Impeach Governor Wamatangi in 21 Days

Kiambu County Assembly Members have given Governor Kimani Wamatangi a 21-day ultimatum to appoint county executive committee members in all departments failure in which they shall start the process to remove him from office by impeachment.

Speaking yesterday at the Kiambu County Assembly buildings, the MCAs criticized Wamatangi’s leadership saying the Governor was working in isolation having not appointed a substantive County Secretary, some County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), and Chief Officers.

Wamatangi has been grappling to work with his MCAs and other elected leaders in Kiambu County, a challenge that has seen Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua intervene.

Although Wamatangi sat with MPs from his county in May to resolve his differences with other leaders, nothing  concrete has happened since.

The MCAs have also demanded that the DCI and the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) launch an inquiry into the billions of public funds spent under Wamatangi’s leadership.
