Renowned Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala’s coach, Geoffrey Kimani, has commented on the toxicity pervading the social media sphere, particularly as it pertains to Kenyan athletes.

Speaking in the aftermath of Marathon Legend Eliud Kipchoge’s recent interview with the BBC, during which Kipchoge disclosed receiving threats following the death of Kelvin Kitpum, Kimani remarked on the consistently toxic, jealous, and malicious nature of Kenyan social media.

He also issued a call to action for coaches and management to shield their athletes from such harmful behavior exhibited by social media users.

“KE social media is toxic, jealous, malicious…comes alive when one stumbles or fails…. great mindset here though, for the coaches out there, protect your athletes and space… an athlete’s circle must be tight knit!” Kimani posted on his Twitter handle.

Kimani’s remarks come in the wake of controversy surrounding Ferdinand Omanyala, who was embroiled in a scandal allegedly involving another man’s girlfriend.

The aggrieved party shared private conversations between Omanyala and the lady in question, identified as Kim Sene, a fitness trainer.

These conversations, obtained from the girlfriend’s Instagram Direct Messages, unveiled intimate exchanges between Omanyala and Kim.

In one instance, Kim expresses her longing for Omanyala and extols his prowess in the bedroom, affirming her allegiance to him.

It’s pertinent to note that Omanyala is married to Laventa Amutavi, a social worker, and the couple shares a three-year-old son named Quinton.
