Karen Nyamu, a nominated senator, was temporarily suspended from live streaming on the TikTok platform on Tuesday night after receiving an unexpected embrace from a woman.

The mother of three was streaming live on the social media platform at around 10:45 PM on Tuesday night when a woman embraced her.

Shortly after, she received notification that her ability to livestream on the platform had been suspended for several minutes.

“I appreciate the controls and checks that TikTok has put in place. A woman appeared and hugged me during my live session, and this happened,” Karen Nyamu said via her Instagram account.

She accompanied her statement with a screenshot of the notice she received from the social media platform.

“TikTok will be banned in Kenya while I am in the shower,” she added.

According to the screenshot she posted, her ability to livestream on TikTok was restored at 11:29 PM on Tuesday night after being suspended at 10:47 PM.

The co-parent of singer Samidoh also received notification that she had been suspended from livestreaming due to content that promotes sexual activities.

“Considering the diversity of our global community, we do not allow content that depicts or promotes sexual activities or services, or nudity,” TikTok informed Ms. Nyamu.

The nominated senator, whose life is filled with much drama, is among the Kenyan politicians who are very popular on the TikTok social media platform.

Ms. Nyamu has over four hundred thousand followers on the platform, and her content has garnered over four million likes to date.
