The investigation into the tragic death of world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has taken a significant step forward with the arrest of three individuals suspected to have visited his home shortly before the fatal accident.

The incident, which occurred along Eldoret Ravine road, has sparked widespread shock and mourning, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Reports indicate that the three suspects, yet to be identified, were apprehended and are currently in police custody for questioning. Initially detained at Kaptagat Police Station in Elgeyo Marakwet County, they were later transferred to Iten for further interrogation.

Detectives in the county are diligently pursuing leads to ascertain the nature of their visit to Kiptum’s residence, as raised by the athlete’s father, Samson Cheruiyot.

Cheruiyot expressed concern over the visit of four unidentified individuals to their home in Chepsamo village, Kaptarakwa ward, just four days prior to Kiptum’s tragic demise. He urged authorities to investigate the matter, citing that the visitors failed to properly introduce themselves, raising suspicions about their intentions.

The positive identification of the three suspects by Cheruiyot at Kaptagat Police Station marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, the vehicle associated with the individuals has been detained for further scrutiny, adding depth to the inquiry.
