Media personality Joyce Gituro, known for her charismatic presence on screen, has recently revealed a deeply personal chapter of her life – her marriage.
In a candid interview with Jeff Kuria, Joyce courageously shared the challenges she faced, shedding light on the complexities of her relationship.
“Before I joined KBC, I was already in a relationship, but we weren’t living together,” Joyce disclosed. However, after securing her job, they started living together. Despite seeing warning signs, she chose to ignore them. “I had noticed a lot of red flags, especially insecurity, and we weren’t even friends. Prior to him, I had a daughter from a previous relationship,” she explained.
At her workplace, her partner’s behavior grew increasingly alarming. “He would show up at Citizen TV and insist on seeing me. Sometimes, he would take away my car, trapping me indoors,” she revealed, highlighting the challenges she faced in her personal life.
Joyce’s struggles intensified when her husband became deeply involved in his church, losing his way in the process. Desperate to salvage their relationship, she sought help from his parents, but her efforts were in vain.
“One day, he packed his things and left for an entire year. When my children asked where he was, I had to lie and tell them he had passed away,” Joyce painfully shared.
The burden of maintaining this facade weighed heavily on her, especially when her children questioned why they were never invited to their father’s supposed funeral.
In addition to her marital challenges, Joyce also revealed her background, growing up in a polygamous family. “My father had five wives and 33 children. My mother was his fifth wife,” she said, providing a glimpse into her upbringing and the complexities she faced from a young age.
