Interior PS Dr. Raymond Omollo has failed to understand why it is just ODM Party lawmakers from the Luo Nyanza region who are punished whenever they are seen with President William Ruto, despite the fact that other leaders from the other regions, including the party leader Raila Odinga meeting the Head of State.
Speaking on Sunday at St Mary’s UrirI Catholic Church in Uriri constituency where he was part of the guests invited for a fundraiser by area MP Mark Nyamita, Dr. Omollo told the congregation that whenever an MP or an MCA from Nyanza pays him a visit at his Harambee House office for work-related issues, they (lawmakers) end up kicked-out from ODM.
”Whenever lawmakers from our region are seen with the President it usually is an issue yet MPs from other regions, also elected on ODM (when they do the same) are not touched. MCAs from our home, if they are seen at my workplace, they are expelled yet I am a government worker. Those in Kisumu were kicked out, Homabay and Migori too,” PS Omoloo said, adding that it could be possible Luo Nyanza has elevated some of its leaders to the extent of them (the leaders) thinking their people do not deserve anything.
The PS, who was also accompanied by Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, and Suba South MP Caroli Omondi also revealed that despite ODM publicly rebuking Luo MPs working with the Head of State, its won Governors of Migori, Siaya, Kisumu and Homabay counties have a cordial relationship with President Ruto, including Mr. Odinga who has had a meeting with President Ruto in Mombasa.
”We have elevated some of us to an extent that they look down upon us. We have been slaves to some people to the extent they think we do not deserve anything. It is the only truth we must say so as to acquire meaningful development and change for our region.
Honorable Nyamita and his colleagues came to State House to see the President. Then he (the President) came here and even the Governor of Migori went to see him. Even followed him to Kisumu. Homabay Governor followed him to Kisumu. The Governor of Kisumu hosted him in Kisumu for the three days he was in Kisumu. The Siaya Governor too, including our regional leader you all respect so much, followed him to Mombasa at midnight,” Dr. Omollo added.
The Interior PS called on leaders from the Luo Nyanza region to embrace the government as it was the only way to get national government and told the region that it cannot continue rejecting the current administration when it needs to benefit like everyone else.
”If anyone is telling you not to participate in government programs, you need to tell them that that is not how to build a cohesive country.”
