ODM Insiders reveal plans to replace SG Edwin Sifuna

Tension within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has deepened following reports that a section of party insiders wants party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna replaced with ''a figure who would not rock the boat from inside.”

Among the names floated as possible replacements are Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who also serves as one of ODM’s deputy party leaders, Nyando MP Jared Okello, and Busia Governor Paul Otuoma.

However, some members have reportedly expressed concern that handing the role to Okello could reinforce perceptions that ODM is becoming a “Luo-dominated outfit,” potentially alienating other regions.

On the other hand, while Otuoma represents Western Kenya, doubts have been raised about his ability to command the same level of national visibility and influence as Sifuna.
