Why Jubilee’s Political Influence Is Rapidly Diminishing

Jubilee is increasingly being consumed by internal disputes, with influential members openly questioning Fred Matiang’i’s leadership. The public criticism has exposed divisions that make it difficult for the party to project unity and strength.

A section of Jubilee leaders believes the party is gradually surrendering political space in Mt Kenya to DCP.

The perception that Jubilee is no longer aggressively defending its position in the region has weakened confidence among supporters and aspirants.

Resistance from aspirants, including protests over attempts to withdraw candidates from key contests, reflects growing frustration with the party’s leadership.

Such disputes have created the impression of a party that is disconnected from its own grassroots base.

Once viewed as a potential opposition powerhouse with Matiang’i as a leading presidential contender, Jubilee now appears to be losing its voice within the broader opposition.

Internal wrangles have reduced its bargaining power and political relevance.

Jubilee has struggled to define its own path and assert itself as a dominant political force for 2027 but the inability to consolidate authority, manage internal disagreements, and inspire confidence in its leadership has accelerated the party’s decline in influence.
