Dumisani Mahlangu, a 29-year-old man from Mpumalanga in South Africa, has  been released from the hospital after a horrifying incident that left him without both of his hands.

Mahlangu spoke to Sowetan about the events that transpired two weeks ago, revealing that he was accused of theft and subsequently had his hands chopped off by a local pastor.

According to Mahlangu, he had nothing to do with the crime he was accused of on March 20 in Vosman, Emalahleni.

“I begged him to at least leave me with one hand, but he said my friends must see what happens to people who steal from him.” The man said.

The incident allegedly occurred inside a church, where Apostle Solomon Mhlanga, aged 58, and his 20-year-old son Enoch confronted Mahlangu.

The pastor reportedly cited Matthew 5:30 before carrying out the gruesome act, stating that Mahlangu’s hands must be severed as punishment for stealing.

In an interview with Sowetan, Mahlangu recounted the harrowing experience, expressing his plea to the pastor to spare at least one of his hands.

However, his appeals were dismissed, with the pastor insisting that Mahlangu’s punishment must serve as a warning to others.
