On Wednesday, social media platforms buzzed with a flurry of videos capturing two individuals engaged in intimate activities inside a Nissan X-Trail bearing the registration number KCP 748A, stationed at Fourways Junction along Kiambu Road.
Yet, what escalated the situation to a disturbing level was the subsequent investigation by Kenyan netizens, who meticulously traced the vehicle’s registration number back to a certain Kennedy Mwaiyona.
This led to widespread assumptions that Mwaiyona himself was involved in the scandalous act.
Some individuals even went as far as tarnishing his reputation, claiming that Mwaiyona had loaned the car to his wife, implying her involvement in the incident.
However, Mwaiyona, a dedicated employee at KCB, swiftly clarified the situation. He revealed that the car in question was actually sold by the Cooperative Bank through an auction.
It had been impounded in Voi last August due to an uncleared balance.
“I never saw it until I saw it trending on social media,” expressed Mwaiyona with a tone of distress. “I don’t know anything about that car after repossession, please,” he pleaded.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the power and pitfalls of social media. While it can be a platform for raising awareness and connecting people, it also has the potential to wreak havoc on individuals’ lives through misinformation and misinterpretation.
