Renowned sports journalist Fred Arocho recently bid farewell to his role at Citizen TV after an impressive four-year stint, marking the end of an era for his dedicated contributions to sports broadcasting.

In a post on his Facebook page, Arocho shared a thankful message to the management of Royal Media Services for the opportunity they gave him to serve.

He reminisced about the past four years, describing them as filled with extraordinary moments, particularly his involvement as a key contributor to Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday Show.

“It’s been four years of great moments at Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday Show! As I sign off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Royal Media Services for giving me the chance to serve. I also extend my gratitude to fellow panelists Mukami Wambora, Steve Shitera, and Zitah Jimoi. Special thanks to the Head of RMS Sports Centre, Isaac Swila, for the memorable moments at work. I have truly enjoyed every moment of my time here,” Arocho posted.

However, behind the scenes, Arocho’s departure was prompted by a significant development. His recent move to TV 47, another reputable media outlet, triggered a chain of events that ultimately led to his decision to leave Citizen TV.

Transitioning from Radio Jambo, Arocho joined TV 47 in 2023, which raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to the competitive nature of the media industry.

“Arocho was told by TV 47 that Citizen TV is a competitor, and there was a conflict of interest. So he had to quit the job. ” the source said as quoted by TUKO.CO.KE.

As a resolution, it was reported that Arocho’s salary was increased by TV 47 to enable him to fully concentrate on his new responsibilities without the need for dual commitments.
