President William Ruto has issued a directive for Defence CS Aden Duale and Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla to ensure weekly supervision on the construction of the Talanta Sports City in Nairobi. President Ruto emphasized the importance of meeting all agreed-upon timelines and ensuring that the stadium is built to world-class standards.

“I expect all the timelines we have agreed upon to be kept by the contractor, and I expect that there will be supervision every week, every two weeks, and I will be here myself every three months until this facility is completed,” President Ruto stated during the groundbreaking ceremony at Jamhuri grounds.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence has been tasked with overseeing the upgrading of several stadiums across the country, with Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale affirming that his ministry will serve as project managers for these crucial projects.

“This is a significant step towards positioning Kenya as a competitive sporting destination and fostering talent development in preparation for hosting the 2027 African Cup of Nations,” President Ruto added.
