Its now emerging that an Instagram connection led to the gruesome death of a 20-year-old woman at a short-term rental along TRM Drive.

The victim, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, had engaged in days of conversation with her assailant before agreeing to meet in person.

Reports  reveal that the connection between the victim and the prime suspect was established through Instagram, with the suspect consistently using the platform for communication, avoiding direct phone calls.

Despite the victim reportedly declining previous meeting requests, the suspect managed to convince her by suggesting he planned to leave the country temporarily, proposing a meeting upon his return.

According to an anonymous detective involved in the ongoing investigation, it is evident from their messages that the woman had turned down meeting the suspect on several occasions until she agreed to do so last week.

The suspect, a foreigner, was apprehended at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on January 16, 2024. The victim’s family, tight-lipped about the incident, positively identified the deceased’s clothing at the police station. However, the identification process is prolonged as the head of the victim remains undiscovered.

The tragic meeting occurred at an Airbnb, where the suspect arrived early, wearing white shoes, and communicated his location to the victim, who was en route from Syokimau Area.

The police believe the horrifying crime took place within the confines of the rented residence.

Neighbors of the short-term rental house were questioned by law enforcement to determine if any unusual noises were heard. Initial suspicions suggest that the suspect may have drugged the victim before dismembering her body inside the bathroom of the booked residence.

The suspect managed to evade scrutiny by using fake documents and a phone number registered under a woman’s name when booking the room. In the days leading up to the incident, he was traced to Ruaka Sub-County until he relocated to Roysambu Area on the Sunday before the tragic event. As investigations intensify, the victim’s family has urged the public to be patient. Kasarani Sub-County police boss, Mr Joseph Muriuki, confirmed that three individuals had been arrested, with one captured at JKIA.
