A middle-aged man has been arrested by police from the Industrial Area Police Station in connection with the brutal murder of a 24-year-old woman in an Airbnb apartment located in South B, Nairobi.
The suspect was captured on CCTV footage in the company of the victim, identified as social media influencer Starlet Wahu, on the night of the tragic event.
The chilling footage reveals Wahu, elegantly dressed in a short red dress, walking alongside the man from the apartment’s lift, both seemingly entering the premises willingly.
However, what transpired in the subsequent hours would turn this ordinary night into a scene of horror.
The following day, a distress call reached police officers, alerting them to a potential murder at the apartment.
Upon arrival, they encountered a grim sight – the apartment had been locked from the outside, forcing them to break in. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of the young woman, lying in a pool of blood in the sitting room area.
Police Commander Judith Nyongesa of Makadara provided details, stating, “We found the woman had bled to death. The victim suffered a quick death.”
The examination of the victim’s body revealed bruises and stab wounds around the thighs, suggesting a desperate attempt to seek help, tragically cut short near the apartment’s entrance.
As investigators cordoned off the crime scene, preliminary findings unveiled that the pair had rented the apartment for what seemed to be a night out.
Among the recovered items were a HIV testing kit displaying negative results, used condoms, the victim’s clothes, a mobile phone, alcohol, and a knife believed to be the murder weapon.
Commander Nyongesa emphasized, “The case is still ongoing. We want to find out the motive behind the gruesome murder.”
Detectives managed to trace the suspect’s mobile phone to a local hospital in Nairobi, where he was undergoing treatment for a stab wound.
The suspect has since been taken into custody as authorities diligently work to uncover the motive behind this tragic and heinous act.
