In a tragic incident that unfolded in Kajiado County, a 23-year-old woman has been arrested following the death of her 59-year-old lover, Joseph Stephen Muirui, under unclear circumstances. The incident occurred at the woman’s rental house along Balozi Road in Kitengela.
According to the police report filed at Kitengela Police Station, the suspect, identified as Beth Wanjiku, recounted that Muirui had visited her on Wednesday, October 18. She stated that they had lunch together, and afterward, they proceeded to bed to engage in intimacy. Tragically, during their intimate moments, Muirui fell unconscious.
“She prepared meat stew and ugali, which they took for lunch. After eating, he requested that they proceed to the bedroom. At around 1600hrs, as they were making love, he fell unconscious,” the police report revealed.
Upon realizing that Muirui was unconscious, Wanjiku placed him beside her and urgently contacted one of his friends, John Kinywa, for assistance. Together, they attempted to rush Muirui to the hospital. Regrettably, Muirui was declared dead on arrival at Pona Hospital, where they had sought medical help.
Law enforcement officers, including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials based in Kitengela, swiftly responded to the incident. However, no significant evidence was found at the scene. Wanjiku was taken into custody for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
The body of the deceased has been preserved at Kitengela Sub County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
