Samia’s Abakhulo Council of Elders Dump Governor Paul Otuoma for Arthur Osiya, Say He Is Best Placed to Lead Busia to the Promised Land

The Abakhulo Council of Elders from Samia, led by their chairman James Okumu Onyango, has officially abandoned Busia Governor Paul Otuoma in favor of principal Administrative secretary in the executive office of the President Arthur Osiya, declaring him the best candidate to unseat the governor.

During a visit to Osiya’s residence in Kakurikit, the elders expressed confidence in his leadership, noting that Busia needs a decisive and visionary leader who can steer the county away from corruption, mismanagement, and endless political wrangles.

Chairman Onyango said the elders had lost faith in Governor Otuoma’s administration, accusing it of failing to deliver tangible development to the people of Samia and the wider Busia region.

“We believe Arthur Osiya is the right person to rescue Busia from the current state of stagnation. He understands the challenges of our people and has the networks and experience to bring meaningful change,” Onyango stated.

The elders further pledged to rally the Samia community and other Busia residents behind Osiya’s political bid, signaling a major political realignment that could shape the county’s 2027 gubernatorial race.

In response, Osiya thanked the elders for their support, saying their endorsement was a clear sign that Busia is yearning for new leadership.

“I am humbled by the trust the Abakhulo elders have placed in me. This is not just about politics; it is about restoring dignity, accountability, and service to the people of Busia. Together, we will build a county where resources are used transparently, opportunities are shared fairly, and every community feels included,” Osiya said.

The Abakhulo endorsement comes just months after the Marachi Council of Elders also endorsed Osiya as the best candidate to oust Governor Otuoma.
