Sudi Warns Moha Jicho Pevu Alliance With Gachagua Could End His Political Career

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has cautioned Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Moha Jicho Pevu, against aligning himself with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, warning that the association could spell doom for his political future.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Saturday, September 4, Sudi accused Ali of being politically opportunistic and questioned what value Gachagua could offer him in terms of mentorship.

“I wonder how Gachagua, who failed to advise himself, can now purport to mentor Mohamed Ali,” Sudi remarked. “The problem with Ali is that he thought when we formed this government, he’d get a place to get free money, unaware that the government has its procedures.”

The outspoken legislator further claimed that Gachagua lacked the capacity to guide emerging politicians, describing him as “incompetent” and “politically misguided.”

Sudi’s remarks came just hours after Gachagua announced that he had met with Ali, whom he described as a “young and talented leader” under his mentorship.

“It was great to spend my Saturday with Moha catching up from our days in the 12th Parliament. Moha is one of the young, talented leaders whom I am mentoring,” Gachagua said in a social media post.

The former Deputy President also revealed that Ali had been recovering from a knee injury that had hindered his ability to serve his Nyali constituents effectively.

“I thank God for healing my great friend Hon. Mohamed Ali, who has struggled with a serious knee injury for almost a year after multiple surgeries, denying him the opportunity to effectively serve the people of Nyali,” Gachagua stated.

Gachagua added that Ali’s political input would be vital in mobilising support in the coastal region ahead of the 2027 General Election, arguing that the area had long suffered from economic and governance challenges.

“The people of the Coast Region are hard-hit by economic mismanagement and the collapse of education and healthcare systems by Kenya’s saboteurs. This pain and anguish will come to an end on the ballot in August 2027,” he said.

Ali has yet to clarify whether his meeting with Gachagua signalled a shift in political allegiance or was merely a courtesy engagement. However, if he formally joins Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), he would become one of several United Democratic Alliance (UDA) legislators who have recently defected.
