Ruto to Engage Hollywood Stakeholders During U.S. Visit

President William Ruto, who is in the United States for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, is set to hold high-level talks with stakeholders in the global entertainment industry.

The Head of State will on September 25 attend a roundtable organized by the U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Africa Business Center and AmCham Kenya. The meeting will bring together filmmakers, television producers, studio and streaming executives, sports leaders, and senior music industry figures to explore opportunities for collaboration between Kenya and Hollywood.

Among the participants will be Los Angeles-based Indigo Reign Films, with filmmaker Evette Vargas expected to present The Mara as a case study for international cooperation in the creative economy. The talks are expected to unlock job creation, spur small business opportunities, and boost tourism in Kenya.

Beyond the entertainment agenda, President Ruto will also use his U.S. visit to advocate for reforms in the global financial system, fair access to development finance for developing countries, and reforms at the United Nations to ensure inclusivity. He is further expected to call for strengthened international peace efforts in Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Haiti.
