Ruto Administration Backs Kenyan TikTokers’ Plan to Build Ultra-Modern Hospital

President William Ruto’s administration has thrown its weight behind a bold initiative by Kenyan TikTokers to construct an ultra-modern hospital that will provide free healthcare services to the public.
The endorsement came from Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, during a TikTok content creators’ workshop held on Wednesday, October 1, at Glee Hotel, Kiambu County.
Itumbi lauded the idea as a “brilliant initiative” that resonates with the government’s mission to expand affordable healthcare access. He further noted that the move complemented President Ruto’s ongoing plan to deliver 70 new hospitals across the country, a project currently spearheaded by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
“That is a brilliant idea. Kenyans have built hospitals in this country through offerings; that is why we have faith-based hospitals. President Ruto is also overseeing the construction of 70 hospitals by the KDF. So if TikTokers can organise themselves and build another hospital, then it is brilliant. Such initiatives are welcomed,” said Itumbi.
The TikTok community’s vision has been inspired, in part, by the touching story of Kaluma Boy, a 17-year-old content creator from Othaya, Nyeri County. He rose to prominence after posting heartfelt clips on TikTok showing his daily struggles caring for his father, who suffered a stroke.
His courage and humility struck a chord with thousands of Kenyans, many of whom traveled to his home to offer support to him and his ailing father. This groundswell of goodwill has now become the foundation of a broader campaign to establish a modern healthcare facility, built by and for the people.
If realised, the hospital would mark a landmark collaboration between digital creators and community development, symbolising the power of social media in mobilising resources for national causes.
