Maridady Motors Ltd Foundation Launches Mentorship Program to Support Learners in Public Schools
Maridady Motors Ltd Foundation has launched a mentorship initiative aimed at addressing counselling and motivation gaps affecting learners in low-resourced public schools.
The program, known as the Igniting Potential Mentorship Program, seeks to provide structured guidance, inspiration and psychosocial support to students who often lack access to consistent mentorship due to limited resources in public education institutions.
Maridady Motors Ltd, one of Kenya’s leading car selling companies, has in recent years expanded its corporate social responsibility efforts through its foundation.
The mentorship program reflects the company’s broader commitment to community development, with a particular focus on education and youth empowerment.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Joe Mwangi Inspirations, with Mr. Joe Mwangi serving as the lead mentor.
Through this collaboration, the program is designed to complement school-based counselling by exposing learners to practical life skills, goal-setting approaches and positive mindset development.
Organisers say the aim is to help students better understand their abilities and make informed decisions about their academic and personal lives.
The program was officially launched at Karura Secondary School in Kiambaa Division, where students took part in interactive mentorship sessions.
The engagements focused on self-awareness, discipline, resilience and identifying opportunities beyond immediate circumstances.
Learners were encouraged to reflect on their ambitions and recognise the role of personal effort and guidance in shaping their futures.
In addition to sessions with students, Mr. Mwangi held a separate engagement with teachers, particularly those involved in counselling.
The session focused on motivating educators, recognising their contribution to student development and reinforcing the importance of emotional and psychological support within schools.
The discussions also highlighted the need for collaboration between external mentors and school counselling departments to enhance learner welfare.
The Igniting Potential Mentorship Program is fully sponsored, and the foundation has invited teachers in charge of counselling in deserving public schools to express interest in having their learners benefit from the initiative. Schools can reach out through official communication channels for further engagement.
The foundation has also called on individuals of goodwill to support the program as resource persons, with the goal of extending mentorship services to more public schools.
Maridady Motors Ltd Foundation acknowledged the Karura Secondary School administration, including the principal and counselling department, for hosting the launch, expressing hope that the initiative will help learners see new possibilities and work confidently towards their potential.
