Former MCA Bob Ndolo Appeals for Public Support to Cover Legal Fees in Defamation Case
Former Kisumu Member of County Assembly Bob Ndolo has appealed to members of the public and his supporters to help him raise funds for legal representation in an ongoing defamation case filed against him by Michael Abala Wanga, the City Manager of Kisumu City.
Ndolo, who previously served as an MCA in Kisumu, said the lawsuit has placed a heavy financial burden on him, prompting his decision to seek financial support from well-wishers. The case stems from alleged defamatory statements he is said to have made against the city manager, which have now escalated into a legal battle.
According to Ndolo, defending himself in court requires significant resources, including legal fees and related expenses. He said he remains determined to pursue justice in the matter but acknowledged that the cost of litigation is beyond what he can comfortably manage on his own.
“I believe in the truth and the rule of law, but the legal process is costly. I am therefore appealing to friends, supporters, and members of the public to stand with me during this difficult period,” Ndolo said while making the appeal.
The dispute between Ndolo and Abala Wanga has drawn attention within Kisumu’s political and civic circles, with some observers viewing the case as part of a broader debate over accountability and public discourse in local governance.
Defamation suits in Kenya can attract heavy legal costs and potential damages if the court finds the claims to have harmed the reputation of the complainant. Ndolo’s appeal highlights the financial pressure that such legal battles can impose on individuals involved.
The case is expected to proceed through the courts as both sides prepare their arguments, with the outcome likely to attract keen interest from political observers and residents in Kisumu.
