Fred Arocho Breaks Silence After Viral Snubbing Video with Coach McCarthy, Reveals What Really Happened

Sports commentator Fred Arocho has refuted claims that Harambee Stars Head Coach Ben McCarthy snubbed his handshake after a video went viral, showing the former Manchester International standing side by side with former Vihiga Queens coach Alex Alumirah.
In the video as seen by Kenyan Report, Alumirah is seen calling Arocho, who walked over to greet him, as McCarthy appeared to ignore him and walked away.
Arocho dismissed the claims, insisting that the video circulating online had been edited to create the impression of a snub.
“Coach Ben McCarthy hakukataa kunisalimia. Hiyo video iko edited,” Arocho said.
Arocho further clarified that he was the one who initially connected McCarthy to local contacts when the coach first came to Kenya.
“I and McCarthy are close friends. I don’t see any reason for people to claim otherwise,” he stated.
The commentator accused critics of twisting narratives to create unnecessary drama around the national team.
“People are saying the coach is angry because I once said Harambee Stars won’t go past two games. But that was before the match, during a casual lunch with friends, even before CHAN. There’s no bad blood,” he explained.
As the debate continues, Arocho urged fans and football stakeholders to focus on supporting Harambee Stars rather than fueling controversy.
“You know the Kenyan team needs everyone on board. Hussein Mohammed, Mariga, Coach Ben McCarthy, and many others. That’s what matters,” he said.
