The race for Bonchari Constituency is beginning to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with youthful leader Douglas Ogari steadily positioning himself as a formidable contender on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party ticket.

Popularly known as “Mtetezi,” Ogari is crafting a campaign anchored on grassroots connection, youth empowerment, and consistent presence on the ground.

 His political star is steadily rising, particularly in Bomariba Ward, where his mobilization efforts have begun to reshape local political conversations.

Speaking during one of his engagements, Ogari emphasized his people-first approach.

 “Leadership is not about appearing during elections. It is about walking with the people every day, listening to their struggles, and working together to find solutions.”

From door-to-door visits to community forums, Ogari has embraced a hands-on style that seeks to align residents with the bottom-up economic agenda championed by President William Ruto.

 His outreach cuts across youth groups, small-scale traders, and local entrepreneurs, segments he believes are central to economic transformation.

“We cannot talk about development without empowering our young people and small businesses. That is where real change begins,” he noted.

His background as Chairperson of Kisii Young Professionals has further strengthened his appeal among the youth, with many viewing him as a relatable and accessible leader. This connection has been amplified through sports tournaments he has been organizing across the constituency.

“When we bring young people together through sports, we are not just nurturing talent—we are building unity and keeping them away from crime,” Ogari said.

Political observers note that his strategy is gradually distinguishing him in a constituency where voter loyalty often shifts based on tangible engagement and development-driven agendas. His consistent presence on the ground contrasts sharply with growing concerns among residents over leadership visibility.

“Bonchari deserves a leader who is present, accountable, and ready to serve. I am offering myself to be that leader,” he affirmed.
