A student at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) tragically lost his life in Lang’ata constituency after the frustrations of a lost bet. Brian Ongwae, aged 22, had staked KSh 15,000, which was meant to cover his fees, hoping for significant returns. Residing in Raila Estate, Ongwae’s gamble turned fatal, as reported by Citizen TV.

According to neighbours, Ongwae isolated himself in his house and was heard conversing with someone before an eerie silence fell upon the premises. Concerned neighbours later discovered his lifeless body hanging from one of the house’s joists.

Muguimoini location chief George Mukuria confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the police had arrived at the scene to conduct investigations. Ongwae’s body was then taken to the City Mortuary for an autopsy.

In a note left behind, Ongwae urged his family, particularly his matriarch, to remain strong. Mukuria, acknowledging the cause of death, advised young people to avoid high-risk investments like betting and encouraged them to seek help during psychological challenges.
