Relocating to the United States alongside her family marked the beginning of Doline Nyambati’s transformative journey.

As she settled into her new surroundings, Doline navigated through diverse professional paths, each offering its own set of challenges and opportunities.

Upon her arrival in the US, Doline initially pursued a career as a certified nurse assistant, aiming to provide caregiving services.

However, this path proved to be short-lived, and Doline soon found herself at a crossroads, searching for a new direction.

It was during this period of introspection that she stumbled upon a unique opportunity—one that would not only reconnect her with her Kenyan heritage but also pave the way for a successful business venture.

Recognizing a gap in the market for authentic Kenyan cuisine, Doline seized the opportunity to introduce the flavors of her homeland to a diverse audience abroad.

Thus, ‘Authentic Kenyan Dishes’ was born—a business dedicated to crafting and delivering traditional Kenyan delicacies such as mahamri, chapati, and samosas to customers across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

According to Nyambati, the top sellers from her kitchen are none other than the beloved chapatis and samosas. She shared that customers simply can’t get enough of these flavorful treats.

Offering a glimpse into her pricing strategy, Nyambati disclosed that a bundle of 20 chapatis goes for Ksh 8,100 (approximately $60), while the same quantity of samosas fetches Ksh 6,750 (around $50), factoring in the current dollar exchange rate.

Despite her culinary prowess, Doline encountered numerous challenges along the way. Chief among these was the difficulty in sourcing authentic Kenyan flavors in her new surroundings.

Undeterred, she embarked on a mission to overcome this hurdle, often resorting to shipping ingredients directly from Kenya to ensure the genuine taste of home in every dish.

However, Doline’s entrepreneurial spirit knows no bounds. With a keen eye for innovation and a passion for healthy living, she envisions expanding her business beyond its current scope. In addition to her signature Kenyan fare, Doline plans to introduce a range of vegan options, catering to the growing demand for plant-based cuisine.

Moreover, she envisions incorporating nutritional expertise into her business model, providing customers with personalized dietary guidance and support.

Despite her success abroad, Doline’s heart remains firmly rooted in Kenya. Her ultimate dream is to return to her homeland and retire surrounded by the familiar sights, sounds, and flavors of her youth.
