Esbon Macharia, a 32-year-old fan of Gor Mahia and Arsenal who runs a spare parts and hardware business, is the latest winner of the Ksh 27 million SportPesa midweek jackpot.
Macharia, the owner of a spare parts and hardware store in Thika, was overjoyed after receiving Ksh 27,041,645 on Tuesday afternoon. He had an early Christmas after gambling with just Ksh 99 and correctly predicting outcomes in 13 matches on November 24.
“I’ve been betting with SportPesa for a year now. I’ve won before, but this is the highest amount I’ve won. I didn’t know I had won initially because I didn’t check how things were going after playing,” he said during his award ceremony in Thika, accompanied by his wife.
“On Saturday, SportPesa called to inform me that I was the winner. I was so happy, and to this day, I don’t have many words,” he added.
Macharia, a father of three, is not wasting any time and has already planned how he will use the money. He has an ongoing housing project, currently at the second floor, that he intends to complete.
“I have several ongoing projects, and this money will help me finish them. These Ksh 27 million will also help me pay my children’s school fees. Today, I believe I am a millionaire, and this game is not a hoax,” said Mr. Macharia.
