US-Based John Matsekhe, Owner of St. Elizabeth Specialist Hospital in Busia, Allegedly Flees After Claims of Impregnating Lydia Oginga in Kisumu

The developing controversy surrounding US-based businessman John Matsekhe, the owner of St. Elizabeth Specialist Hospital in Busia, has taken a dramatic turn after reports emerged that he fled the country following allegations that he impregnated Lydia Oginga, a well-known and flamboyant Luo woman from Kisumu.

In a series of posts on her Facebook page, Lydia claims that Matsekhe had long expressed a strong desire to have a child with her.

She writes that on 6th July 2019, he “desperately wanted a baby,” and on 1st August 2019, he still insisted that he wanted one.

However, she says that on 7th August 2019, when she informed him that her tests had turned positive, he suddenly claimed he was not ready.

Lydia further alleges that this happened after dating for over four years and after Matsekhe lied for years that he wasn’t married.

Moments after giving birth to a healthy baby boy, Matsekhe, who works as a doctor in the United States, went silent, ignoring Lydia’s messages and calls.

For three years and four months, she says she tried repeatedly to involve him in their son’s life, but her efforts were met with complete silence.

During this period, their son Adon began forming emotional attachments to any available male figure, a boda boda rider, the caretaker, or a male neighbour, something Lydia says deeply concerned her as he longed for a father figure.

Despite her continued attempts to reach out, Matsekhe did not respond until around August 2024, when he finally made brief contact.

Lydia says her efforts to seek support from Matsekhe have borne no fruit. According to her, his explanation is that he has already spent billions building his hospital in Busia.

She argues that he is capable of building such a facility, yet she is only requesting the bare minimum to support their child’s wellbeing.

All attempts to contact John Matsekhe by phone proved futile, as he did not answer any calls.
