A shocking complaint against popular betting gaming firm Betika has left online gamblers and gaming enthusiasts concerned after a customer reported losing a substantial sum of money during a system downtime on the Aviator platform.
The affected customer claims that on December 5, 2025, their Betika account was debited Ksh 62,206.26, despite no valid gameplay taking place.
Aviator, a virtual game where players place bets predicting how long a plane icon will fly before crashing, had experienced a technical downtime at the time.
Yet, transactions continued to reflect on the customer’s account, leaving them both shocked and frustrated.
According to the complaint sent to Nyakundi, the customer immediately contacted Betika’s support team. A representative named Alloyce reportedly guided the customer through a manual review of their bet history.
Alloyce allegedly confirmed that the deduction was an error and assured the customer that a refund would be processed by 6 pm the same day. That promise, however, never materialized.
Two days later, on December 7, the customer followed up and spoke to another representative, Lilian Njeri, who escalated the matter to her team leader, Victor.
Victor assured the customer that the refund would be processed by 4 pm and promised a follow-up call if the funds did not reflect. Despite these assurances, the money was never refunded, nor did Victor make the promised follow-up call.
The ordeal continued on December 8 when a representative named Eugine opened a service ticket, number 7964330, which was said to be the official channel for resolving the matter. Yet, the situation remained unresolved.
Further attempts to get the matter addressed connected the customer to Edward, who confirmed the same deducted amount of Ksh 62,206.26 after reviewing the bets manually.
Edward then promised that a colleague named Jane would contact the customer to confirm and process the payment before midnight. That call never came.
At the time the customer reported the issue to Nyakundi, they had received no refund, no calls, and no response to messages, leaving them feeling ignored and frustrated despite repeated internal confirmations from multiple Betika staff that the deduction was an error.
The customer is now appealing to the Betting Control and Licensing Board to intervene and compel Betika to refund the wrongly deducted funds.
This case has raised alarm among bettors and highlights the risks associated with online betting platforms when technical errors occur. It also calls into question the efficiency of Betika’s customer service and dispute resolution mechanisms.
