A nightmare unfolded on Mombasa Road. Near Capital Center, a young Kenyan Somali mother and her children were nearly swept into tragedy in a moment that should jolt every Kenyan awake.
According to witnesses, a heated argument erupted between the mother and a matatu driver. Then, in a shocking turn, the driver allegedly reversed the matatu and rammed it into her, forcing her car off the road.
Inside the car were her children. π
Their screams pierced the traffic chaos, prompting Good Samaritans to abandon their destinations and rush to the rescue. Strangers rose to the moment, stopping, saving, and standing together.
And the driver? He was reportedly arrested, then released.
Pause and let that settle. A mother and her children, targeted by a vehicle allegedly turned into a weapon on one of Nairobi’s busiest highways. Yet, by all reports, the driver is back behind the wheel.
How can anyone do this to a mother and her children? And how does someone accused of this walk free so quickly?
This is not just another road rage headline. This is not a story to scroll past. If it can happen to her in broad daylight on Mombasa Road, it could just as easily happen to your wife, your sister, your mother, your child.
π΄ We call upon the Traffic Commandant, the National Police Service, and all relevant authorities to urgently and openly investigate this incident, explain why the suspect was released, and make sure the law takes its full course.
We cannot allow this to become normal. Women and children have a right to safety on our roads.
JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED. π¨
