Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai over the weekend raised over Sh15 million at a high-profile fundraiser for women groups in Dagoreti North, which political observers are calling a clear signal of his growing influence in the constituency ahead of 2027.
The event, held at Kileleshwa Primary School on Sunday drew a powerful mix of ODM leaders and senior government officials, lifting the lid on Alai’s expanding political network.
Among those in attendance were Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, and Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi also graced the event, representing senior Ruto government officials who contributed to the fundraiser. Sources close to the organizing committee indicated that President William Ruto, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, and several Cabinet Secretaries made personal contributions to support the initiative.
The Sh15 million raised will go towards empowering women groups across Dagoreti North, focusing on small business support, savings cooperatives, and community development projects. Alai, who has built a reputation as a vocal and tech-savvy leader, said the initiative was part of his broader plan to strengthen grassroots economic empowerment in the constituency.
“This is about giving women the tools to transform their communities,” Alai said.
However, the event’s political undertones did not go unnoticed. With Dagoreti North MP Beatrice Elachi expected to defend her seat under the ODM ticket, Alai’s growing visibility in the constituency and ability to mobilize resources for residents have set the stage for a fierce intra-party contest.
Party insiders say Alai’s strong grassroots network and his reformist agenda as the Kilelshwa MCA could make him a formidable challenger.
