Captain Hillary Litali’s Mother Devastatingly Recalls How She Found Out About Her Son’s Death

The devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla and eight others has left families grieving, including that of 29-year-old Captain Hillary Litali.

Everlyne Litali, Hillary’s mother, expressed overwhelming grief at the loss of her first-born son, describing him as hardworking and supportive.

Recalling the moment she learned of her son’s death, she recounted being in church when rumors of the crash began circulating.

Unable to reach Hillary by phone, her fears were confirmed when officers from Lanet 3KR arrived at their home to deliver the heartbreaking news.

Dickson Litali, Hillary’s father, shared how he received the news via social media, initially dismissing it until officers confirmed the tragic reality.

The family described Hillary as a dependable child who had promised to help complete construction on their family home in Kitale.

Hillary’s journey to becoming a captain in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) was marked by hard work and determination. After excelling in his education, he joined the KDF as a cadet in 2013, rising through the ranks to become a Captain in 2020.

He served alongside former Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi before being recalled to the office of General Ogolla in 2024.

Tragically, Hillary leaves behind a wife and daughter, his dreams and aspirations cut short by the untimely crash. His family remembers him as a dedicated son, husband, and father, whose memory will forever be cherished.

As the nation mourns the loss of these brave souls, their families find solace in the memories of their loved ones and the indelible impact they made during their lives.
