In an unbelievable story, Sandrine Murhula, a woman who resides in Goma, DRC, shared a heart-wrenching story of how she ended up unknowingly marrying her biological father.
In an interview with Afrimax, Sandrine, who still struggles with acceptance, claims that it all started at a bar while she was drinking beer. A man approached her and shared some drinks with her before they went home together.
As time passed, Sandrine claims that they got to know each other better and saw each other more often. They even went out and had fun together.
The man thereafter sought a relationship with her that would eventually lead to marriage.
After Sandrine accepted his proposal, the man asked her if she had parents and if she would like to be his wife.
“After we had spent years together, I accepted his proposal, and I was ready to become his partner. I took him home to meet my parents,” Sandrine said.
As she took the man home, her mother wasn’t around, so she had to wait for her to come back.
“When she came, she immediately went into her room and called up my dad as if something had happened,” she narrated.
From that moment, it was clear that something wasn’t right, as her mother’s expression shifted dramatically upon seeing the man who intended to marry her daughter.
“She just came out declaring it was impossible, unable to wait to hear why I wanted her approval or even allow me to introduce the person I had brought home,” she continued.
Sandrine questioned what the issue was, and all her mother kept saying was “No.”
“I was stunned. I had been living with this man since 2022, and bringing him home felt like an honor I was bestowing upon my parents. However, the reality turned out to be far different than I could imagine,”
Sandrine decided to go after her mother, who was tearfully crying, to ask what was wrong, only for her mother to end up revealing to her that the man she intended to marry was her biological father.
“I came to understand that the man I had grown up calling Dad was not really my biological father, but this truth had been kept from me by my mother until after she divorced him.
The man who had intended to marry her thereafter disappeared and blocked her numbers after he had recognized her mother.
“I felt ashamed, and I could not bring myself to return to my mother’s home. I realized what had happened was a taboo,” Sandrine said.
Sandrine’s mother claimed that the man had dumped her upon realising that she was pregnant.
