A Kisii man has stirred reactions online after naming his newborn son “Betika” and publicly asking betting firm Betika Kenya for a KSh2,000 shopping voucher to celebrate the birth.
The father, identified on X as Kevin (@kevin_csb), shared a birth notification indicating that his son was born on September 30, 2026, at Kisii County Hospital.
According to the document shared online, the child was registered as **Betika Nyaberi Opanga**.
Shortly after the birth, Kevin posted the document on X and tagged Betika, jokingly calling on the company to reward him with a shopping voucher.
“Nothing is stopping me! In fact, my wife gave birth today and we’ve officially named our boy BETIKA NYABERI OPANGA! Admin, pass that 2K shopping voucher this way to celebrate the new arrival!” he wrote.
The post quickly caught the attention of Betika Kenya, whose official account responded with a light-hearted message in Swahili.
“Unajua kuwa kuingiza Admin box,” the company replied.
The unusual choice of name has since attracted attention on social media, with users reacting to the father’s attempt to turn the birth of his son into a playful appeal to the betting company.
It was not immediately clear whether Betika would eventually give the family the requested KSh2,000 shopping voucher or offer any additional gift following the naming gesture.
