Bonchari parliamentary aspirant Douglas Ogari is emerging as one of the figures expected to play a significant grassroots role in President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign in Kisii County, with plans placing him at the centre of mobilisation and campaign coordination in Bonchari Constituency.
Under the emerging campaign structure, Ogari is expected to provide leadership and coordination of activities associated with President Ruto’s campaign in Bonchari, including grassroots organisation, stakeholder engagement and mobilisation of supporters.
The arrangement would make Ogari an important link between the presidential campaign and local political networks across the constituency as the 2027 General Election approaches.
Ogari is also positioning himself for the Bonchari parliamentary seat currently held by Pavel Oimeke, setting up what could become a closely watched constituency contest.

At the county level, Kisii Governor Simba Arati is expected to remain a major figure in the political organisation surrounding President Ruto’s re-election effort in Kisii.

The Governor, who is also expected to seek re-election in 2027, would therefore play a dual political role, strengthening his own countywide support base while helping mobilise voters around President Ruto’s re-election campaign.
Within the broader structure, Arati would provide county-level political leadership, while figures such as Douglas Ogari would drive mobilisation at constituency level.
The two-layer approach is expected to give the President’s campaign a stronger grassroots presence, particularly among young voters, opinion leaders, professionals, businesspeople and community networks.
Youth mobilisation is expected to be central to the strategy. Kisii County has a large youthful population, making young voters an important political constituency ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Ogari is therefore expected to work closely with youth groups and grassroots networks in Bonchari, while Governor Arati takes a broader countywide role in rallying young people and building political support across Kisii.
For Ogari, the campaign role would also boost his visibility as he seeks the Bonchari parliamentary seat.
