Affordable airfares and shorter travel times have boosted domestic tourism during the August school holidays, with fly748.com reporting increased demand for its Nairobi–Mombasa and Nairobi–Ukunda/Diani flights as more Kenyan families choose local holiday destinations.

According to Oduor, the increase in domestic travel is also benefiting the wider tourism sector by boosting business for hotels, restaurants, tour operators, transport providers and other enterprises that rely on visitor spending.
He encouraged travellers planning trips during the remaining school holiday period to book early, noting that the season is among the busiest travel periods of the year.
