Govt to Diversify Tourism Products Beyond Wildlife, Says CS Miano

Government is working to diversify Kenya's tourism offerings in a bid to encourage visitors to explore attractions beyond the country's renowned wildlife and safari experiences that have long positioned Kenya as a leading global tourism destination.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has said the government is working to diversify Kenya’s tourism offerings in a bid to encourage visitors to explore attractions beyond the country’s renowned wildlife and safari experiences that have long positioned Kenya as a leading global tourism destination.

Speaking during the 7th Annual Nyeri County Cultural Festival, Miano urged Kenyans to appreciate and promote the country’s diverse tourism products, including cultural heritage, historical sites, natural landscapes, and other unique attractions found across different regions.

She noted that expanding tourism products would not only enhance visitors’ experiences but also create more economic opportunities for local communities.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of domestic tourism, calling on Kenyans to take pride in and support the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

The two-day festival was held at the Nyeri National Polytechnic on Friday and Saturday, bringing together cultural groups, exhibitors, and stakeholders from across the county to celebrate and showcase the region’s cultural diversity.
