Investigators are probing the murder of renowned Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo, known by her stage name Sheila Wegesha, after her body was found at her home in Athi River, Machakos County.

Sheila, aged 38, is suspected to have been killed on Thursday morning before her body was discovered on her bed a few hours later in the Hill View neighborhood.

Police reported that her 18-year-old daughter stumbled upon her lifeless body on the bed before raising an alarm.

The body, discovered around 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, was lying in a pool of blood, indicating that she had been dead for more than four hours.

There was a deep cut on her throat, the police said.

Investigators handling the case said they are searching for the deceased’s husband, who was reportedly seen inside the house earlier.

It is said that he left the house at midnight on Wednesday without saying anything to the other family members present.

“He left with his car,” the daughter said.

Investigators said they wanted to have a conversation with the man regarding the matter.

The motive behind the murder is still unknown.

The daughter said she had prepared lunch for her mother and went to wake her up only to discover she was dead.

Police arrived at the scene and processed it before taking the deceased’s body to the morgue pending investigations.

The couple runs a popular bar in the Umoja area of Nairobi.

Sheila was a popular Ohangla dancer. Many mourned her on social media upon learning of her death.

Those mourning speculated about the possible reason for the murder and called for justice for the family.

Police have promised to ensure justice is served in the case of her murder.
