Tragedy struck on what was meant to be a joyous occasion as a bride tragically lost her life on her wedding day after falling into a swimming pool during the reception.
Elisangela Gazano, aged 38, had been celebrating her wedding festivities at a rented country house in Limeira, São Paulo, on April 14th.
The non-swimmer reportedly slipped and fell into the pool while dancing, according to state officials who later confirmed the incident.
Just hours before the accident, Elisangela, a mother of five, had shared a photo online showing her happily signing paperwork with her partner, marking the beginning of their marital journey.
Guests at the reception immediately rushed to her aid upon witnessing the accident, attempting to rescue her from the pool and promptly calling emergency services.
Despite their valiant efforts, Elisangela went into cardiac arrest. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
In the wake of her untimely passing, Elisangela’s friend Flavia Silva took to social media to pay tribute to her. In a heartfelt post, she reminisced about their recent encounters and shared Elisangela’s infectious joy and laughter.
Flavia expressed her condolences to Elisangela’s family and husband, acknowledging the irreplaceable void left by her departure.
In addition to celebrating her wedding, Elisangela and her loved ones had also been commemorating her daughter’s birthday on the same day.
Officials from São Paulo state have since confirmed that Elisangela’s death resulted from the pool accident.
Her funeral has been scheduled to take place on April 16th, marking a somber farewell to a life taken too soon on what should have been a day of celebration and happiness.
