A woman residing in the Mjengo area of Nyeri county recently initiated divorce proceedings against her newlywedded husband, citing an unusual reason – the size of his manhood. Local reports disclosed that the housewife, a mother of three, sought the dissolution of her marriage due to the substantial size of her husband’s genitalia, referred to locally as “mjulus.” Surprisingly, their divorce was swiftly granted within a week of their marriage, following legal proceedings as dictated by Kenyan law.

The woman had entered into this marriage after the collapse of her previous one. According to local customs, before settling into her husband’s residence, the bride had to stay with his parents. However, it was only after the couple engaged in their first intimate encounter that the woman claimed to have experienced considerable distress.

Expressing her dissatisfaction in court, she stated, “It’s strange; I can no longer derive pleasure from our intimacy. His mjulus is unbearable, too large for me. I can’t continue with this marriage.” The court, acknowledging her plea, granted them the divorce.

After their initial attempt at intimacy, she confided in her mother, who advised her to endure and assured her that with time, she would adapt. The mother even provided her with medication, but despite this, the subsequent encounters were deemed too painful.

The woman asserted that, despite trying again, the situation remained untenable. Consequently, the couple mutually decided to end their marriage, with no pharmaceutical solution to salvage it.

Interestingly, the man did not contest the accusations but expressed willingness to dissolve the union. However, he stipulated that the return of his dowry and the reimbursement of expenses incurred during their courtship should be promptly settled for the divorce to proceed.
