In the wake of the tragic passing of marathoner Kelvin Kiptum, a woman believed to have been his girlfriend has taken to social media to mourn his untimely demise.

In a heartfelt post, the grieving lady revealed that Kiptum had sent her a gift before his passing, expressing her wish that she had known it was his way of bidding farewell.

”I wish I had known this was a gift to say goodbye. Rest in peace Kevo,” she wrote, reflecting on the unexpected nature of his departure.

Alongside her poignant message, she shared a romantic photo of herself with Kiptum, expressing hope for a future reunion.

“One day we will meet,” she captioned the photo, capturing the bittersweet essence of their relationship and the enduring memories they shared.

Kiptum, who was married with two children, leaves behind questions about the extent of his personal life’s complexities, particularly regarding his relationship with the woman mourning his loss.

It remains unclear whether his wife, Asentah Cheruto, was aware of his involvement with another woman.

Kiptum, aged 24, and his coach, a Rwandan national named Gervais Hakizimana, tragically perished in a fatal accident that occurred just a short distance from their hometown of Chepsamo, in western Kenya.

However, a female passenger who was traveling with them miraculously survived with injuries and was rushed to the Racecourse Hospital in Eldoret, while the bodies of Kiptum and his coach were taken to the morgue at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital as investigations commenced.
