A tense situation unfolded on Monday as officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) surrounded the office of Kisii Governor Simba Arati at Gusii Stadium.
Reports suggested that the Governor had been prevented from entering the stadium where he conducts official business from his secondary office.
The GSU officers arrived at the premises in a police truck, accompanied by other police vehicles, although their specific intentions remained unclear.
Sources indicated that the officers had received orders from higher authorities to surround the Governor’s office.
Eyewitnesses reported that the GSU battalion conducted a thorough search of offices associated with the Governor, located within the county’s largest stadium.
Earlier, Governor Arati had addressed the situation, stating that the GSU battalion had attempted to raid his premises during the night.
He expressed his preference for any investigations to be conducted during daylight hours, emphasizing transparency and due process.
