Citizen TV journalist Trevor Ombija is currently one of the most famous journalists in Kenya and serves as the host of the Monday Report on the main television station.

However, many people are unaware that the father of one came from humble beginnings, even working as a matatu conductor before gaining fame.

The man revealed this during an interview with Tuko, saying, “I was a matatu conductor in that area (Nyakach) for a long time.”

Ombija, who was once thin and fit, still maintains a good relationship with the people of Nyakach, often interacting with many of the transport service providers in his hometown.

“Standing at the bus station and mingling with boda boda riders and matatu drivers is a normal thing for me because I used to be one of them,” he explained.

Trevor’s revelation comes a week after he celebrated his birthday, sharing something he had learned over the years with Kenyans.

“As I mark another year today, there are many things to be proud of and others I regret, but one thing I’ve learned over time is to give yourself time. Everything will succeed eventually; if it hasn’t happened yet, then it’s not the end, right? Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Officially, a year older.”

Two and a half months ago, Trevor introduced his newborn child. His surprise announcement delighted Kenyans, as the journalist prefers to keep his personal life private.

The news of his fatherhood was revealed on Father’s Day.
