Ruto Meets Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party

The Communist Party Central Committee made a stop in Kenya on its way to the 13th meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security in Johannesburg, South Africa.

On Saturday morning at State House in Nairobi,  President William Ruto met the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China led by  Wang Yi, the Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The members of the Communist Party Central Committee made a stop in Kenya on their way to the 13th meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security in Johannesburg, South Africa.

During today’s meeting, Ruto commended China’s valuable assistance towards Kenya’s infrastructure construction through partnerships, particularly highlighting the transformative impact of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway project.

He committed that the Government of Kenya will work closely with China on infrastructure development, climate change, ICT, education, and security.

The Head of State noted that his government was particularly focused on the development of roads under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

“Investment in this sector will spur economic growth and create jobs for the people under our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” President Ruto said.

He expressed Kenya’s willingness to strengthen party-to-party exchanges and enhance cooperation in areas such as railways, highways, water conservancy, aviation, and renewable energy under the framework of the joint construction of the Belt and Road initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

On his part,  the head of the Chinese delegation Wang Yi noted that since the establishment of Kenya-China diplomatic relations 60 years ago, the two countries have treated each other as equals, supported each other, and united and rejuvenated together.

He added that the two countries have become good friends with mutual trust in politics and good partners with win-win economic cooperation.
