The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a convenient new method for students to check their placement results.

Through their official Twitter handle on Monday morning, KUCCPS revealed that students can now access their placement status by sending an SMS.

To find out their placement status, students need to send their index numbers, starting with the year they sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), to the number 20842.

The process is simple, with no spaces or slashes required.

“Send your index number starting with your KCSE year to 20842. No space, no slash,” KUCCPS said.

However, it’s important to note that there will be some costs incurred when sending the SMS.

This update comes as good news for the students who have been eagerly waiting to learn about the universities or colleges they have been placed in.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu also shared that all courses available at the institutions are government-sponsored.

This move is in alignment with the new university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs) funding model, which was unveiled by President William Ruto on May 3.

It is worth noting that under this new funding model, all government-sponsored courses are available to students who meet the minimum entry requirement of a C+ grade in their KCSE exams.

This inclusion of government-sponsored courses aims to provide greater access to quality higher education for deserving students.

In the event that students encounter any difficulties or have questions about their placements, KUCCPS has provided a helpline, 020513740, where students can seek assistance.
